Public Safety & Education

In addition to providing fire suppression, EMS and rescue services, our department also provides a wide list of consumer services, such as fire prevention, home and commercial inspectional services, and public education.  Below you will find these services detailed more specifically, including links for home owners, builders and educators. If you don't find what you're looking for, please contact our station directly using the non-emergency number of (508) 653-3270 and let us know. Your feedback is greatly appreciated and will allow us to provide more detailed and updated information.

It has been reported by the National Fire Protection Agency that a fire department responds to a fire, somewhere in the nation, every 19 seconds. Unfortunately, this accounted for approximately 3,500 civilian deaths from countless fire related incidents. It is these statistics that compel departments everywhere to prevent fires and hazardous emergencies from occurring through safety surveys, research and knowledge.

The department vigorously conducts ongoing programs of Public Education throughout the local community. Both public and private schools as well as commercial organizations within the town of Sherborn participate in yearly scheduled educational programs.  These programs are funded by donations and the State S.A.F.E. grant issued to the department.

In addition to this, the Sherborn Fire Department  holds an annual Fire Prevention & Open House at our main station which allows area citizens to learn about on going programs and tour the facilities. With each passing year, we have much success and look forward to future activities and opportunities to meet those we serve.

Please call for more information regarding future programs and on house dates.
